In our Experience Centre the machine is set up on 4m width in 1/10” gauge. The Colortec C+ is a combination of 2 technologies: ICN Individual Controlled Needles and IPD Individual Pile Delivery. So both the needle selection and the yarn tensioning is controlled electronically and individually. This allows to make high quality free design carpet in up to 8 colours without waste yarn on the back and this for any kind of yarns including wool. Fun fact about this machine, it contains more than 1.600 servo motors for the yarn control and another 1.600 needle actuators, so it is cutting edge technology for making cut pile designer carpets and this at high industrial speeds up to 600 rpm. Not convinced yet, ask your carpet sample still today and feel the quality first hand.
Every tufting machine needs a good inspection frame as well as a re-roll unit to make sure the carpet can be transported to the finishing line in the best possible conditions.
The inspection frame can contain all kinds of quality control systems like the Protechna camera control to make sure the carpet leaves the machine without any mistake.
All these ancillaries can be supplied by Vandewiele as well.
PS: don’t forget to look to the righthand side where the unroll unit (another ancillary) can be found which is used to feed the primary backing to the tufting machine.

In this latest mc development combine 3 mc technologies into one mc (COLORTEC + MYRIAD + LCL).

This is where the different dyestuff are prepared in reserve tanks to feed the dyeing boxes of the MCD3.

The central section of the TVP3 (in fact, this is the heart of the tunnel, i.e. the section where occurs the heat-setting process of the fibers with saturated steam under pressure)

MULTIPOLYMER BCF EXTRUSION LINES
Up to 72 ends, 6 colors + base shade = enables to print up to 15 different color shades on the yarn.
Individual spindle motor winder with a constant tension winding process (this is a medium size machine with 48 ends).
The DL5 is a special fixation line for the acrylic space-dyed yarn.
Software to drive the MCD3: this enables to create the yarn design (spots of colors) that will be printed on the yarn bundle thanks to the MCD3 piezoelectric actuators (see motion design in MCD3 video).
This is the inlet of the pressurized heat-setting section of the TVP3 tunnel.
Thanks to this tightening head, the inside pressure can reach 4 bars and a temperature of more than 140°C with saturated steam to heatset the yarn bundle to the heart of the fibers.
With this device we can see and measure the cross sectional and the longitudinal view of man made and natural textile fiber’s .

The LLOYD is a fully programmable semi-automatic device. This device can is used to measure:
Tensile strength and elongation
This semi-automatic machine is capable of testing tensile strength up to 250 N with a precision of 0.01 N and an elongation up to 100 %.
Knot and splice stability
When a yarn in spliced or knotted this can cause a weak point in the yarn. This test tests the strength of the splice or knot in [N].
Cycle test
This test determinates the recovery degree. A yarn gets stretched with a specific force and then left for relaxation. This repeats several times.
Pile retention
With this test we define the strength [N] of the individual tuft.
Gripper test
This test gives us information about the behaviour of the weft when clamped in the rapier.

friezing/texturization machine
Yarn accumulator device : this acts as a buffer between the TVP3 heatsetting line outlet and the winder; it prevents the TVP3 stopping in case of a yarn break on the winder and thus increase the global efficiency of 10-15%
This is a pre-steaming chamber. It allows a quick pre-fixation of the dyestuff on the yarn bundle before entering the heat-setting line.
The draw frame of this 3-Colour line is designed to produce with all polymers and equipped with 2 draw zones.
On top you see the dosing system and extruders.
Bonas is the only one in the market to offer over 31000 hooks in a single jacquard machine! This smaller Si21 demonstrates 20160 hooks for weaving flat woven carpets, another quality by the leader in carpet weaving. Driven by the Vandewiele Smart Drive, the carpets roll out of the machine!
The yarn count is a numerical value that indicates how fine or coarse a yarn is.
There are two systems:
- Mass per unit length (N’ tex, N’ dtex, N’ den, …)
- The length per unit mass. (Nm, Nec, …)
The yarn count is measured using a reel. A reel is a device that has a circulene of exact 1 m and counts each rotation.
The Torsion meter is semi-automatic devise to measure the twist and direction of the yarn [twist/m]. This can be done by following methods:
- Untwisting (for double yarns): the operator manually decides when the yarn is fully untwisted.
- Twist-untwist (for single yarns): the machine fully untwists the yarn and twists it up.
- Break twist (for spun-single yarns): the machine fully untwists the yarn until the breaking point and twist it back up again. (The operator determinates the breaking point).
The knitting machine is used to produce round knitted fabrics. These fabrics are used to dye.
By dying the PA fabrics in critical conditions, we can visually determinate the molecular or physical differences of the yarn.
The colour differences of these fabrics can be measured with a spectrophotometer.
The STATIMAT ME+ is used to measure the tensile strength [cN] and elongation [%] of yarns. This semi-automatic machine is capable of testing tensile strength up to 2000 cN with a precision of 1 cN and an elongation up to 200 % depending on the machine settings.
The tensile and elongation are important parameters towards weaving and tufting.
The Myriad machine gets its name from ancient Greece meaning a multitude of possibilities and that is exactly what this machine represents. With the IPD “Individual Pile Delivery” motors, the tension of every yarn is controlled individually to allow precise designing in loop pile carpets.
But a multitude of possibilities also has to be manageable. That is why Vandewiele offers a complete software package so that customers can harness the full potential of the machine. The TEXTURMAT is used to measure the crimp contraction [%] and shrinkage [%] of texturized yarns. This semi-automatic machine is capable of testing 30 skeins in one run.
The crimp and shrink is developed using hot air.
- The crimp contraction: gives an indication towards how much the yarn will bulk in the carpet.
- The shrinkage: indicates how much the yarn will shrink when exposed to heat in further processes.

This is the RCE2+, the double rapier machine from the latest generation carpet looms. It's a completely digital machine with Fast Creel, Smart Frames, active brakes and recuperators on the weft and with SiC electronic jacquards.
